LIFE TEEN is an international Catholic movement that serves the Church by providing resources and faith experiences that help lead teens closer to Christ. This is accomplished through a vibrant Eucharistic spirituality and by creating widespread opportunities for teens to grow in their faith.
At the weekly LIFE TEEN Mass, teens and their families, as well as parishioners of all ages, experience the depths of God's love through the Word, the community, and the Eucharist. Relevant preaching and music bring the Catholic Mass to life.
At the end of LIFE TEEN Mass there is a “commercial” to let you know what the upcoming LIFE Night is about. These commercials can be Extreme!
What is a LIFE Night?
Following the LIFE TEEN Mass, trained youth ministers and CORE members lead the teens deeper into their Catholic faith in the LIFE Night experience. As a faith community, the teens grow in understanding of what it means to be young and Catholic in the new millennium. The teens are affirmed, educated, and challenged to live the Gospel. There are 5 different LIFE Nights: 1) Social Nights and Special Events– These are nights that are meant to have some fun, get to know other teens, laugh together and have a good time! 2) Gym Nights – These Nights are held at Holy Family School with Coach Cogghe leading us in a friendly game of Basketball, Beach Volleyball or whatever he may put together! These nights are open to all athletic abilities! 3) Education Nights – These LIFE Nights deal with educating our teens with the Catholic Faith in a deeper way. 4) Issue Nights – These LIFE Nights deal with pertinent issues that our teens are facing in this day and age. Ex. Homosexuality, abortion, pornography, addictions, etc. 5) XLT Nights – These are Nights of Eucharistic Adoration and are open to EVERYONE not just teens. There is a short talk, then the LIFE TEEN Music Ministry leads in worship as we come to adore Jesus in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
LIFE Nights begin right after LIFE TEEN Mass and end at 9:00 p.m.
If anyone can go to the LIFE TEEN Mass, who can attend the LIFE Nights?
Any teen that is in High School is welcome to attend LIFE Night. As well, there are 3 nights that the ROC (Rite of Confirmation) candidates are welcome. See schedule on the back.
But I like to attend the morning Mass with my family, am I still able to come to a LIFE Night?
ABSOLUTELY!! It’s wonderful to worship with your family! Just come in to the OLHC Parish Centre at 7:20 and join us for the LIFE Night.
What if I can’t commit to going to LIFE Night all the time, can I still go once in a while?
Again the answer is YES! We know how busy teens are. With work, school, friends and most important family, things can sometimes get crazy. If you can only get to an occasional LIFE Night you will be warmly welcomed. We’d love to see you!
Can I bring friends that may not be of the Catholic faith?
Please know that ALL TEENS are most welcome at both the LIFE TEEN Mass and any LIFE Night regardless of denomination.
I’ve heard that there is a special place for teens to sit in the church during the LIFE TEEN Mass?
Teens are welcome to sit as a group in the left front section of the Church. Many of the teens like this, as it is a place to meet and feel comfortable if you’ve come to mass alone. It also seems contagious when other teens start singing and doing the hand actions to the songs. You just have to sing along!
But…if you would feel more comfortable sitting alone or with your family in another area of the church, you are most welcome to do that as well.
